MADDY & ZOE
Well it appears our little ladies decided they wanted to wait no longer. Saturday evening came, and so did the contractions, we secretly where hoping it was just a bad case of gas on my part, but no such luck. The cramps took on a pattern, and so did the intensity. By 8pm they where taking measures to help try and stop or slow the process. Not much worked, and at 2am I was taken up to the delivery floor again. By 6am I was 4 centimeters dilated, and by 9am I was a full 8 centimeters dilated and the game was on. Jim did an awesome job as a coach, helped me stay really focused. We got an epidural by 10am; thank god, I have to say I was exhaust from laboring at this point 12 hours. 10:30 came and it was time to push. Jim got a lovely one-piece blue jumper to wear, we had matching blue hats and off we went to the OR to meet our little girls. Miss Madaline Yolanta McCarthy was born naturally at 10:58 am, 15.5” almost three pounds. Miss Zoe Christine McCarthy was born shortly there after at 11:06, 14.4 inches almost three pounds too. She a little smaller than Matty, but both are doing great. They are bright red, both cried when born, Zoe needed a little air at first but is doing fine now. Jimi got the chance to meet and hold them for a few seconds a half hour after birth. They cleaned up well, it appears they have their Dad’s blond hair, and seem very mellow and content to be here. They will be at the Crouse NICU for the next few weeks until they fatten up, and can feed on their own. We hope to bring them home with us end of May. It seems so far away, but they couldn’t be in any better care! We’re able to visit and spend as much time with them daily as we want which is great. I’ll post an update soon. Looks like I’ll be able to leave the hospital by Wednesday morning ☺
